If you really want to show the world that you have “arrived” it doesn’t get better than leather – a leather recliner, that is!
Regal and Relaxing Recliners
Ah, leather. Nothing says ‘luxury’ in a more sensory-indulging way than this most up-scale of materials. A treat for four of the five senses; the eyes take in every little detail of a leather recliner, from the distinguishing natural irregularities to the way that light is reflected or absorbed by its surface. The smell instantly brings to mind thoughts of sophistication and opulence. You hear the low staccato moan as leather stretches or rubs against itself, accommodating a sitter. Finally, there is the warm, buttery feel of the leather recliner; the fact that leather rapidly absorbs body temperature makes it the most appealing of materials in winter, spring, summer or fall. No one material is as synonymous with the good life as this.
To complete the perfect picture of pleasure, there is the full leather reclining chair, also called the full leather press back recliner. These dreamy designs look like club chairs, but with a quick press against a handle or the back of the lounger, they stretch out into a full reclining position. Perfect for reading or taking a relaxing catnap!
Universal Appeal, Total Luxury
While this type of chair used to be the domain of men, this is not your grandpa’s old, plaid recliner! Women have since caught on to the comfort and versatility of recliners, and the current wide array of styles reflects masculine, feminine, and neutral decorating preferences. Full leather recliners are available in a multitude of styles, including Traditional (timeless and functional), Transitional (a blend of Traditional and Contemporary), Contemporary (very modern, often using clean lines and a mixture of neutral and bold elements), and Casual (homey and inviting).
Full leather press back recliners are also easy to maintain. Unlike other fabrics, leather becomes softer and more pliable with age. While spills can stain if not cleaned immediately, it is easy to keep your full leather reclining chair looking in top form; with occasional conditioning, your full leather press back recliner can look new and luxurious for many years.
A Little Lesson about Leather
When shopping for your full leather recliner, there are two types of leather you will see. Keep the following distinctions in mind:
Cowhides are too thick to upholster furniture, so they must be split into thinner layers. The two resulting pieces are classified as top grain and split grain.
Once split, the surface layer is referred to as the top grain. It is the strongest, most resilient part of the hide. It also happens to be the silkiest and softest, and the layer most used for furniture and fashion.
The lower layer on the hide is called split leather. It is not as pliable or durable as top-grain leather, but can be used for parts of furniture that are mostly out of view, such as the back of the recliner.
With the style, durability, and versatility of leather reclining chairs, now anyone can feel like royalty!
